With this being the second time going to SOFR, I had a good idea of what was going to go down but with having more access to the stages, it allowed for a lot more freedom than last year. I was more prepared while feeling too prepared at the same time, I didn’t have the same spontanious creativity as I did in 2024 because I was so fresh to the sport and thinking on my feet. Especially during the park expose in 2024, I carried my large format camera on my shoulder and treated it like a point-and-shoot, somehow trying to blend into the crowd. This year the 4x5 was left trackside, ready to try and capture flying cars using a camera from the late 1940s and my own reaction time. With everything that I learned last year, the results were more consistent, and next year they will be more consistent and varied, combining the strengths of spontaneity and careful planning.
